TALLI

Year Produced: 2020

Description: Talli is a design led innovation created for the Al Dhaid community. It looks at community, and heritage as cultural resources. As a class, we visited AlDhaid, to gather information and resources for our solution. Al Dhaid is known for preserving the heritage of poetry, fashion, and they also have a unique landscape.

We looked at fashion in the emirates and more specifically Talli, because Talli is the only type of embroidery in the United Arab Emirates that is made using the old technique to this day.

Our project’s purpose is to modernize history by bringing the old UAE fashion and more specifically, Talli, back to life and preserving its technique that was made by Emirati women who value the UAE’s heritage. Additionally, we want to educate people about Emirati poetry. Our values are respecting and protecting culture, celebrating tradition, modernizing history, and ensuring longevity through innovation. We have a few rules that we must follow. First, we ensure that we use the same old technique of Talli but using it in a modern way. In this way we will keep and preserve the traditional uses. Secondly, we ensure ethical standards, fairness, and equality for women.

Go Podcast

Year Produced: 2019

Description: For this project we were asked to find a design based solution for any problem people might be facing, using design thinking. I chose to look at the podcasting community in the MENA region, since I am a part of it, and it was a problem I connected to as well. The problem was that the podcasting community in MENA lacks advertising and might be disregarded, since there are many other forms of entertainment. I focused on the positive sides of podcasting, and after a lot of intensive research, I came up with a three solutions. I built the brand “ Go Podcast” and its main focus was to bring the podcast community together and expand its users through a campaign, a space, and workshops/ events.
